The Couple does and only the Couple can. One of you is the applicant and the other is the joint applicant. Once issued, marriage licences have 90 day expiries. I will help you apply for yours. As part of my officiant duties I send the completed paperwork to the Registrar General’s office to make it official.

What do you mean what happens? You start being married! I also send your completed marriage licence in to the registrar general’s office and add your ceremony details to my marriage register as an official record should it ever be needed. The bottom part of the licence is the Record of Solemnization, which I will complete and leave with you right after the ceremony.
